It is a fact that stress is the most pernicious disease confronting the human race in todays day and age. It is also true that there is very little that modern medicine can do for it other than prescribe a mild tranquilizer. Stress is an insidious killer that can in time cause cardiac problems to severely aggravate. It is also a cause for elevated sugar levels for people with diabetes. Stress causes chronic acidity and stomach ulcers that can eventually lead to stomach cancer and the only way to combat it is by changing the way you manage your lifestyle. So how do you mange your lifestyle enough to reduce stress.
Forget about how well your neighbor is doing. If you can forget about whether your neighbor, colleague, acquaintance is driving a better car, living in a better house or making a better salary you will free up all that time in living your life better and doing your job more successfully. This in itself will enable you to perform better and maybe raise your status to the one that you previously envied in a friend. Healthy competition leads to evolution and crazy envy just leads to stress and worsening health. You dont have to be richer, sexier and smarter. What you need to be instead is calm and in control. By removing yourself from the race you will become the object of envy yourself. Foolish materialism is the root of all stress, when you rid yourself of it you start appreciating the better things in life like the love of family and the companionship of friends so stress levels go down and you start feeling better without medicine.
We have become a society of hoarders and collectors. Our houses are filled with things that we buy, gadgets that we dont operate and clothes we dont wear. A great way to eliminate stress is to take stock and de-clutter our lives. Dont do it at one go. Do it gradually. Everyday take one thing from that immense pile of material goods and throw one thing out. Why just things, you can also take an inventory of the relationships in you life and discard the absolutely meaningless ones form you roster as well. Question your motives for maintaining the relationships, if it is selfish then you dont need it. Once you have freed yourself from the entanglements see how your stress levels go down.
