From the time we are kids, getting dirty is something that is almost a pass time. Our parents try to keep us and our clothes hygienic to no avail, because after washing our hands several times, we gather ourselves and go right away back to our dirt piles. As we grow older, the obsession for playing with dirt is often disappear and we live our lives with a renewed sense of sanitation. For some, however, a germ phobia prevents standard life from happening. This germ phobia is also called mysophobia and can be directly linked with a fear of dirt.
Mysophobia is more than merely being afraid of germs. Mysophobia is the intense fear of dirt that might contain germs or infect the person in some way with a contamination. The person has a germ phobia can often be noticed washing their hands again and again, in order to remove any germs they have come into contact with.
When the germ phobia was first noticed, it was wrongly associated with the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder need to wash the hands repetitively. |
